I think I might be pregnant ?

My period is due some where this week.So far no visible symptoms of getting my period.I m married for 2 years and would really like to add in an extra member to the family.I feel that I could be pregnant this mth since my husband and I did the neccessary things needed.I m not sure on whether to take the pregnancy test this early at the same time,I have heard from people that if you have after you convince there are high chance of miscarriage.And also pls let me know wat r the things to be followed if I m pregnant.Can I carry heavy things,can I walk alot ?Pls advice.....
